ArmInfo. Armenia has done everything required under the agreement to open the Armenian-Turkish border to citizens of third countries, the ball is now out of its court, as stated by Armenia's Special Representative for the Normalization of Armenian-Turkish Relations and Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Ruben Rubinyan, in a conversation with journalists when asked about what the progress made under this agreement.
Rubinyan recalled that Armenia, on its part, had already completed work to restore the checkpoint (Margara - ed.). "The good news is that the Turkish side has finally began work on restoring checkpoint on its side this year (at the Alijan checkpoint - ed.). So, the ball is currently not in our court. Yes, peace has been established, and all processes must proceed as usual. There are no problems on our side. There is an agreement, and it must be implemented," the Armenian special representative noted.
In this context, he also decided to recall the steps already taken to improve relations between Armenia and Turkey. Specifically, Rubinyan mentioned the restoration of air service between Yerevan and Istanbul, as well as the implementation of direct cargo air transport. "There is also an agreement on the restoration of the historic Ani Bridge; the documentation process is currently underway on this matter," Rubinyan concluded.
