NA MP: Personal ambition and political vendetta shaping Armenian  policy

It's now sports' turn, as noted in  the article by Elinar Vardanyan, a member of the Alternative Projects Group and  a deputy of the National Assembly, when  commenting on the authorities' intention to use the  courts to remove Gagik Tsarukyan, President of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

"A new system of governance has been established in Armenia, and all  decisions are made by the courts.  The court appoints the bishop, the  court appoints the head of the diocese, the court reinstates  dismissed clergy, and now the courts govern sports. Another absurd  trial is underway. The Weightlifting Federation has filed a lawsuit  demanding that the powers of the President of the National Olympic  Committee of Armenia, Gagik Tsarukyan, and the members of the  Counting Commission be declared terminated effective September 9,  2025. This could be considered an ongoing lawsuit if not for one  crucial circumstance: the Weightlifting Federation is headed by the  Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia," the  MP noted.

She emphasized that, in essence, a high-ranking government official  is interfering in the activities of a public organization. Moreover,  judging by the measures taken by the court to ensure the enforcement  of the claim, there is no room for speculation about possible  pressure on the court. "Once again, personal ambition and political  vendettas are playing a role. This is being put above the reputation  of our country, which could lead to a serious international scandal,  as a high-ranking government official, using the courts under his  control, is interfering in the work of the Olympic Committee. We can  only hope that more objective judges will emerge who will not succumb  to blackmail and will prioritize the interests of our country over  petty squabbles," she wrote.
