In the city of Gabala, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, met with representatives of Azerbaijani and Armenian civil societies within a bilateral roundtable format as part of the "Peace Bridge" initiative.
According to APA, during the meeting, Hikmet Hajiyev exchanged views with the participants and answered questions from the Armenian delegation. The meeting emphasized the Azerbaijani government's commitment to the peace agenda.
It was also reiterated that Baku is committed to the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed upon in Washington, as well as to the spirit of the Washington summit. Furthermore, the establishment of trade relations between the two countries and the provision of transit for goods from Azerbaijan to Armenia were announced. It was noted that the implementation of the TRIPP project will contribute to a change in the regional climate and the overall transport landscape.
Hajiyev emphasized that peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia are bilateral, and it is equally important that such exchanges between civil societies and confidence-building measures also be bilateral. The presidential aide noted that, amid new global upheavals and wars, ensuring peace and security in the South Caucasus is of particular importance.
