Armenian delegation arrives in Azerbaijan via  land border as part  of  " Peace Bridge " initiative

ArmInfo.  Within the framework of the " Peace Bridge " initiative, the Armenian delegation  arrived in Azerbaijan via the land border, crossing through a  formally delimited and demarcated section and undergoing  all  relevant border and passport control procedures, to participate in a  bilateral roundtable to be held from April 10 to 12, 2026.

According to the press service of the Armenian Council Research  Center, the roundtable will be attended by representatives of civil  society in Armenia and Azerbaijan. The meeting agenda includes  discussions on the current state of the peace process; the activities  undertaken by participants in the "Peace Bridge" Initiative in their  respective countries and the results of those efforts; as well as the  situation in the region.  Separate sessions will also be devoted to  efforts to advance peace at the societal level and to increase trust  during the next stages of the peace process.  

The Center recalled that  the dialogue between civil society  representatives is taking place within the framework of the agreed  bilateral peace agenda endorsed at the trilateral summit of the  leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States held in  Washington, D.C. on 8 August 2025. 

Recall, a bilateral roundtable discussion within the framework of the  "Peace Bridge" initiative was held in Armenia on February 13-14. At  that meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation arrived in Armenia for the  first time through the delimited and demarcated sections of the land  border, having completed all necessary procedures. Following this, a  press conference was held in Yerevan, at which representatives of the  Armenian civil society group "Peace Bridge" presented the outcomes of  their first meeting with their Azerbaijani counterparts in  Tsaghkadzor.

During the meeting, humanitarian issues of mutual concern were  discussed. The Armenian side raised the issue of the detention of  Armenian prisoners of war in Baku. The Azerbaijani side raised the  issue of Armenia providing minefield maps and information on  Azerbaijanis missing from the 1990 war. It is worth noting that Naira  Sultanyan, Director of the Democracy Development Foundation and human  rights activist, commenting on the results of the meeting, stated  that events are unfolding too quickly for both sides, and people in  both countries are failing to process them. She said that both sides   had expressed dissatisfaction with their lack of time to monitor  political processes between the two countries. 

It should be noted that representatives of Armenian civil society  have also pointed out that it is not yet possible to say with  certainty whether the initiative will be successful,  as the  processes also depend  on external and internal factors.
