Tbilisi. The Commanding General of the U.S. Army Europe, Lieutenant General Donald Campbell is paying a visit to Georgia within the 8th Annual Conference of European Armies for Noncommissioned Officers.

Tbilisi. Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, has sent a letter of condolences to her Nigerian counterpart, Aminu Bashir Wali, following the terrorist attack, which struck the central Nigerian town of Jos on May 21, killing over a hundred innocent civilians.

Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, met with European Commission high-rank officials as part of the working visit of the Georgian delegation to Belgium.  Georgian delegation, led by Prime Minister, Irakli Gharibashvili, held a number of meetings within the framework of the two-day visit to Belgium - Georgian Foreign Ministry reports.

Tbilisi. The joint statement of the European Commission and the Georgian government, released after their meeting, notes "importance of holding the 15 June local elections to the same high democratic standards as parliamentary and presidential elections in 2012 and 2013 for the continued democratic development in the country." The statement has been published by the Georgian Prime Minister's press-service. 

Baku. Today in Baku started two international exhibition of agriculture and the food industry - World Food Azerbaijan and Agrihort Azerbaijan.  Speaking at the opening, the agriculture minister Heydar Asadov said that their work involved more than 240 companies from 36 countries.

Azerbaijan has issued a statement at the meeting of PACE Standing Committee in Baku, APA reports. 
The statement issued by Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE, MP Samad Seyidov covered questions about facts and urgent suggestions to the PACE leadership.

A member of the parliament from the opposition Oritans Yerkir party, Karen Botoyan, was threatened with hardships in business if he refuses to support the government's programme, the head of the Orinats Yerkir Party parliamentary faction. Hegine Bisharyan, told journalists today when commenting on the decision to expel Botoayn from the faction.

 Russia has elaborated and handed over to Armenia an agreement regulating the problems of migration, and at the moment Moscow is waiting for Yerevan's response to launch the process of mutual coordination, Konstantin Romodanovsky, Head of the Federal Migration Service of Russia, said at the Armenian-Russian Friendship Parliamentary Club in Yerevan.

 Konstantin Biryulin, the deputy director of the Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation, states at the exhibition of Kadeks-2014 which is held in Kazakhstan that Russia has completed export of 100 T-90C tanks to Azerbaijan. Probably Baku will get 100 more tanks later, ITAR-TASS reported.

 At the May 22 sitting, the National Assembly of Armenia introduced amendments to the Law on Excise Tax. The amendments imply relieving the importers of expensive cars of high excise tax rates.   

 The abolishment of the wealth tax demonstrates that the new government of Armenia is not going to change anything in the country, economist Armen Martirosyan, Deputy Head of Heritage Party, said at today's press conference in Yerevan.
