ArmInfo.The Court of First Instance of Shengavit District of Yerevan granted the request of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia for choosing 2-month arrest as a preventive measure against the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. As Kocharyan's lawyer Aram Orbelyan stated, tomorrow at 12:00 it will be announced at the press conference whether defense is going to appeal against the court's decision. Meanwhile, according to another lawyer of the second president Ruben Sahakyan, they will certainly appeal the decision of the court.

According to the prosecutor Ara Mnatsakanyan, consideration of the petition has been completed. "The court went to the meeting room and the decision will be announced at 11:30pm," he said. Meanwhile, the hearing on the case of the second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan resumed today at 11:00am. Yesterday the trial, held in the court of first instance of the Shengavit district of Yerevan, was postponed due to the fact that, according to the lawyers of the accused, Robert Kocharyan was not properly notified.

ArmInfo. The second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan was charged under March 1, 2008 events. As reported by the press service of the Special Investigative Committee, Kocharyan is charged under the first part of Article 301.1 of the RA Criminal Code for violating the constitutional order in the country during the events of March 1, 2008, having a preliminary agreement with other persons. The SIS decided to send a petition to the court to detain Kocharyan.
