Upon the centennial of the Armenian Genocide Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper addressed to the Armenian nation marking that April 24 is a mournful date related to dreadful events that had taken place in the Ottoman Empire.
Horizon newspaper reports that according to him, the Senate and the House of Commons have adopted resolutions that qualify the events as genocide. Harper mentioned that the commemorative date is to remind about reconciliation and creation of better future. Against this background he called upon Yerevan and Ankara to resume the negotiations on the ratification of protocols and normalization of relations.
