13th Golden Apricot International Film Festival will be held from July 10-17 in Yerevan.
Armenia's Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan informed at today's press conference in Yerevan that this year the festival is special as it is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia's independence.
"Within the festival the best feature and documentary films, made during these 25 years, will be presented to spectators, in the special program, entitled Armenian Cinema: Our Days", Poghosyan informed.
Golden Apricot's Founder-Director Harutyun Khachatryan informed that this year "Zare" film by Hamo Beknazaryan will open the Golden Apricot. The film was shot by Armenfilm studio in 1926. According to him this is the first film dedicated to Kurds and Yazidis.
Khachatryan also informed that around 135 films will be presented within the programs of the 13th festival. "Shakespeare Lives in Film", "French New Cinema", "Danish New Cinema", "Basque New Cinema" programs will be held within the festival.
Golden Apricot Film Festival has been held in Yerevan since 2004 and is considered as one of the most prestigious in the region. The festival is organized with the Culture Ministry's assistance; the General Partner of the festival is Armenia's Leading Telecommunications Operator VivaCell-MTS.
