National Security Service of Armenia informs that under the criminal case on the seizure of the Police Patrol Service Regiments more persons and a criminal group tied to the "Daredevils of Sasoun" - the armed group that seized the Regiment in July 17 - have been detained.
The National Security Service (NSS) has published the details of the armed group's attack on the Police Patrol Service Regiment on July 17. In particular, the NSS says the armed group seized the truck from the owner threatening to kill his family and used to truck to break into the territory of the Police Patrol Service Regiment.
It was found out that some members of the armed group incited their supporters outside the seized building to attack the police cordon with explosive substances and take the weapons seized from the territory of the Regiment. NSS warns that many other persons tied with the group and planning to help it have been identified and are in the focus of attention of the law-enforcers. Measures are taken to restore the talks with the armed group after the <Daredevils of Sasoun> canceled them. In particular, the source reports, they have suggested to hospitalize the wounded member of the group, but their suggestions were declined.
The NSS is still sure that there are chances to settle the incident through peace talks and urges all the members of the armed group to put down arms and surrender. "There is still time to do it," the NSS says.
Earlier, the NSS disseminated leaflets saying that under Armenian laws, the person that abandons his demands, puts down arms, sets free hostages and returns what he has seized is exempted from criminal liability, if his actions pose no more threats and contain no more crimes.
