ArmInfo. On May 2, 2024, the Embassy of France in Armenia will receive members and the team of the Europa Nostra Association, which carried out scientific work at the ancient site of Yereruk in 2009-2021.
According to the press service of the French Embassy in Armenia, the guests of the event will also be representatives of the RA government, the EU delegation, the US Embassy in Armenia and cultural figures. The event, organized on the occasion of the visit of the Vice President of Europa Nostra to Armenia, comes a year after the European Commission and Europa Nostra announced the winners of the European Heritage Awards/Europa Nostra Awards 2023, awarding 30 outstanding works from 21 countries the most prestigious European awards in this area.
Armenian-French Scientific-Archaeological Studies for the Preservation of Ererouyk won the award in the Research category.
Leading research work in the field of scientific, interdisciplinary and environmental studies was carried out by specialists of different nations at the early Christian and medieval site of Ererouyk in 2009-2021. On this occasion, the award will be presented, as well as the programs implemented and ongoing in Ererouyk. The French Embassy in Armenia financed part of the scientific work and excavations of Ererouyk, as well as the publication of a French-Armenian bilingual work dedicated to the ancient site. Currently, the embassy supports the Ererouyk pilot program " and " Scientific-Archaeological Studies ", approved by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
