ArmInfo.The United States plans to provide over $65 million assistance to Armenia. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on April 5 at a joint briefing with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
According to him, new allocations from the United States will exceed by 50% the volume of financial assistance that was allocated to Yerevan two years ago. Blinken added that Washington is investing in areas related to governance and the economy of Armenia. "We plan to provide more than $65 million in assistance from our Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Funds," Blinken said.
The United States will continue to support the more than 100,000 Armenians displaced from Nagorno- Karabakh. Washington believes that this is very important for the long-term stability and safe development of Armenia. " We are also supporting efforts to integrate people into the economy, into society, including the access to housing, jobs, education," he noted. The US Secretary of State emphasizes that regional integration is of key importance for Armenia. In this context, Washington supports the "Crossroads of Peace" project proposed by the Armenian Cabinet, as well as cooperation in the field of energy and communications. These steps will be aimed at diversifying the economy, creating new opportunities for countries in the region and supporting efforts aimed at maintaining peace, Antony Blinken said.
