ArmInfo.Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan assures that there are no discussions about the surrender of villages in the Tavush region of the Republic of Armenia.
"They go and convince residents of border settlements that someone, including me, said or is saying that, for example, the village of Voskepar is not Armenian, or some part of the Tavush region is not Armenian and should be surrendered (to Azerbaijan). Some journalists allow themselves to say that a village is being 'rented out' in Tavush. There can be no talk about the transfer (to Azerbaijan) of any territory, settlement, village or meter to the Republic of Armenia. There is no such discussion!," Simonyan wrote in his Telegram channel.
As the Speaker of the National Assembly notes, going to border villages and inciting passions, distorting reality, playing on people's emotions is clear evidence of the worst qualities. "Such things cannot bring political dividends to anyone. The Republic of Armenia has a clear map. Within the framework of this map, we have become independent, and this is not subject to discussion," Alen Simonyan concludes.
Earlier, in a meeting with the residents of Voskepar village in Tavush, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan threatened war if the Armenian side refused to hand over 4 villages to Baku. The topic of delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan and territorial concessions became relevant again after the office of Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev stated on March 9, that as part of the process of delimitation and demarcation of the border with Armenia, "issues of the liberation of 4 exclave villages must be resolved immediately."
On March 27, the speaker of parliament himself, in a conversation with journalists, questioned the ownership of a number of territories in the Tavush region of Armenia. "I search and do not find those who believe and can prove that these villages are the territory of the Republic of Armenia," Simonyan said. On the question of how the authorities determine the borders of the country and using what maps, since there are none yet, Simonyan emphasized that the authorities know the borders of the Republic of Armenia with millimeter accuracy.
