ArmInfo.France, through its actions and statements, interferes with the implementation of agreements between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated at a briefing on March 27, commenting on recent statements by the Prime Minister of the French Republic.
According to her, Paris is trying to collect intelligence information and spy on the countries of the region in the Caucasus.
"The presence of France in the South Caucasus region is an attempt to collect intelligence information, monitor the states of the region, and prevent the implementation of the peace agreements that were reached between our countries, including those of an economic nature. If their true goal were peace and security, then France would do everything to ensure that the agreements that were reached in 2021 between Azerbaijan and Armenia through the mediation of Russia were implemented. But, as you see, they took the opposite course," she said.
According to the diplomat, it is naive to believe that France is ready or capable of ensuring the security of the South Caucasus." "If France had such capabilities, this state would have used them in those countries in which Paris had contractual obligations," Zakharova emphasized, adding that France was obliged to do so on the African continent, since, they received money for it.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that the future of the South Caucasus is "only a tool" for France. "This is just a bargaining chip, one of the ways to maintain one's well-being and preserve one's reputation, including against the background of a hybrid war with Russia and failures on the African continent," the diplomat emphasized.
On March 21, in his speech at the annual dinner of the CCAF in France, Prime Minister of France Gabriel Attal stated that "Russia wants to punish Armenia for choosing the path of fighting impunity by joining the International Criminal Court, choosing democracy and the rule of law." Gabriel Attal also criticized Russia's "complacent" position, which "not only did not condemn Azerbaijan's use of force in Nagorno-Karabakh, but actually approved it." "The so-called Russian peacekeeping forces allowed the humanitarian crisis to deepen," the French Prime Minister added.
