ArmInfo. During the delimitation process, the security issues of the Voskepar village are discussed, and the problems raised by local residents are absolutely legitimate.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this on March 20 during government hour in the National Assembly of Armenia, answering a question from NA Vice Speaker Ruben Rubinyan.
The prime minister noted that the opposition's claims about intentions to transfer four villages of the Tavush region to Azerbaijan do not correspond to reality, since two villages have always been controlled by Azerbaijan. For this reason, these settlements are not included in the list of territories under discussion. Pashinyan emphasized that the borders with Azerbaijan in the Tavush region are the most complicated ones due to their specifics. "The Armenian government is ready to begin the process of delimitation from this territory. The issue concerns not the villages themselves, but the definition of the border in front of them," Pashinyan noted, adding that on the Armenian side of this territory there is the village of Baghanis, on the Azerbaijani side - the village of Baghanis-Ayrum.
"These are different villages. There is also the village of Voskepar on the Armenian side and in front of it, on the border, is the Azerbaijani settlement of Ashagi-Askipara. In front of the Armenian village of Kirants is the Azerbaijani Kherimli, and in front of Berkaber on the Armenian side is the village of Kyzyl Khajili. At the same time, Kyzyl Khajili, today, yesterday and 20 years ago, was under the control of Azerbaijan. Even if the Armenian government wants to, it cannot surrender it; it has always been under the control of Baku," Pashinyan said. He also noted that the village of Ashagi Askipara is also under Azerbaijani control, which has always been so.
