ArmInfo.Defender of the Fatherland Day symbolizes very important values for everyone: patriotism, love for the motherland, willingness to sacrifice everything for the Motherland.
This is the day when tribute is paid to those who guard the interests of our country, to those who gave their lives for their Motherland, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin stated on February 22 in Victory Park in Yerevan during the laying of wreaths at the eternal flame, on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day.
"In Armenia, this day is filled with a special meaning, because it also symbolizes the very deep traditions of military brotherhood that throughout history have united the Armenian and Russian peoples. This is another reason to remember that glorious Great Victory, which the peoples of the Soviet Union, the Armenian people, the people Russia and other peoples of the Soviet Union won a mortal battle with Nazism and brought the prospect of a free life to the whole world," Kopyrkin emphasized, adding that the root of Nazism was not completely eradicated, which is fraught with negative consequences.
At the same time, the diplomat noted that current times are very difficult, the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation are facing very serious challenges, so respect for the defender of the Motherland, for the Armed Forces, and tribute to them are more in demand than ever.
"Army Day was celebrated on January 28 in Armenia. On that day, one could feel how respectful the attitude was towards military personnel, defenders of the Fatherland, how important their mission is. By honorably celebrating this day, we, of course, contribute to the strengthening of our spiritual forces, state and nation.
"I would like to wish that our interaction, our alliance, is preserved and strengthened, this is important for our countries, it is in the interests of our peoples," the ambassador added.
