ArmInfo. On December 11, during a speech at the meeting of Foreign Ministers of Eastern Partnership countries in Brussels, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov once again criticized European countries for supporting Armenia.
Thus, regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Bayramov assured that mutual recognition and respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity is the only path to sustainable peace, stability and prosperity in the South Caucasus. And this is in conditions when Azerbaijan itself is in no hurry to recognize the territorial integrity of Armenia and leave the occupied sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia.
Further, a representative of the state, which not more than two months ago, with the assistance of Turkish and Israeli military instructors, completed the process of de-Armenization of Artsakh, decided to "attack" the European Union for the assistance provided to Armenia. Bayramov expressed dissatisfaction with the activities of the EU civilian mission in Armenia and accused a number of EU members of 'inflammatory rhetoricand unilateral actions".
"The EU observer mission to Armenia has not achieved its stated objectives of building confidence between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Instead, it is widely used as a propaganda tool against Azerbaijan as a "neutral mediator". Initiatives to arm Armenia, including through the EU, undermine trust and efforts to normalise relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a whole. Arming one partner against another or is not compatible with the goals of the Eastern Partnership," Bayramov said who, apparently spurred on by the EU's inaction against the backdrop of Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh, considered that he had the right to dictate to Europe how to act and who to help.
At the same time, Bayramov did not explain how it happened that Azerbaijan, which assures its commitment to peace, continues to actively purchase weapons from its partners - Turkey, Israel, Pakistan, and plans to purchase weapons from Serbia and so on.
In these realities, we can only state with regret that it was the inaction of the civilized international community, including the EU, that gave Azerbaijan a free hand not only in aggression against Artsakh, but also in today's pressure on Armenia and claims against the EU itself. If Azerbaijan, in accordance with international standards, had been held accountable for violations of human rights, various kinds of crimes, including against humanity, then maybe today Azerbaijani officials would not feel so free on international platforms, nor would Artsakh be de-Armenianized.
