ArmInfo. Armenia's first president, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, never received a proposal to appoint Armenia's former human rights defender Arman Tatoyan as head of an interim government, Levon Zurabyan, vice-chairman of the Armenian National Congress (led by Ter- Petrosyan) told reporters on December 2.
In early November, Artsvik Minasyan, a member of the opposition parliamentary faction "Hayastan" (Armenia), touching on the real reasons for the failure of the "National Committee", noted that "they proposed an interim government led by Arman Tatoyan". "There was one condition that the Catholicos and all former presidents publicly express their support for this idea, however, the idea could not be implemented due to the negative reaction of the first President of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ter- Petrosyan," the deputy said. The next day, Tatoyan himself stated that he had nothing to do with these political processes and the National Committee and its discussions. "When I consider it necessary to participate in any political process, I will act independently and clearly state this. Moreover, I will be guided by the agenda of state security, ensuring the rule of law and human rights, protecting national values and restoring public solidarity," Tatoyan said.
President Levon Ter-Petrosyan received no proposals regarding Arman Tatoyan (his appointment as head of the interim government - ed.). No one approached the first president with such a proposal, Zurabyan stated.
