ArmInfo.A delegation of the National Assembly of Armenia will not take part in the meeting of the Council and the plenary meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, which is to be held this December, Armenian NA speaker Alen Simonyan told reporters stated on November 22.
"Armenia did not make a decision to withdraw from the CSTO, but I consider my participation in the upcoming event inappropriate in the current situation. The organization did not perform and is not fulfilling the functions assigned to it. In this context, can you explain the reason for my going there?" Mr Simonyan stated.
A day earlier, the head of the foreign policy department of the republic, Ararat Mirzoyan, also announced his decision not to go to the meeting of the foreign ministers of the CSTO member countries. Before him, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan confirmed his refusal to participate in the summit of CSTO heads of state in Minsk. Head of the Ministry of Defense Suren Papikyan and Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia Armen Grigoryan also did not go to meetings with colleagues.
