ArmInfo. On October 16, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna.
According to the press service of the RA Foreign Ministry, as a continuation of the meeting of the two ministers in New York in September, issues related to the current security situation in the South Caucasus were discussed during the phone call.
Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that, despite messages addressed to international partners, on September 19, Azerbaijan again resorted to the use of force, and after a 9-month blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh, more than 100 thousand Armenians were forced to leave their homeland and find safe refuge in Armenia. The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan's actions were part of a pre-planned policy of ethnic cleansing, which the Republic of Armenia has constantly warned about.
During the conversation, the humanitarian problems of Armenians forced to leave Nagorno-Karabakh and the protection of their rights were touched upon.
In the context of the general security situation in the region, the necessity of curbing any aspirations towards the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia was emphasized. The interlocutors exchanged views on the Armenia-Estonia bilateral agenda, issues of deepening the partnership in the Armenia-EU format, as well as interaction at multilateral platforms.
