ArmInfo. The European Union, France and Germany have great opportunities to help Armenia and Azerbaijan achieve a dignified and lasting peace, reads a statement by the parties and civil society of Armenia.
The document emphasizes that the program of ethnic cleansing of Armenians, which began in 1998 and has claimed the lives of more than half a million people to this day, has reached its climax. Today, the ability of the international community to protect the inalienable right of every person to live freely in their homeland is being questioned. At the moment, almost the entire people of Nagorno- Karabakh have acquired refugee status. Such a solution to the Artsakh conflict cannot be acceptable from a legal, political or moral point of view.
Necessary conditions for overcoming the crisis and returning people to their homeland should be the release by Azerbaijan of all captured and arrested persons, the Azerbaijani armed forces, police and administration should be withdrawn from the entire territory of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region, and the Lachin corridor should be under the control of the United Nations Nations.
UN-authorized peacekeeping forces must enter the territory of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and be stationed on its borders. To reorganize the security, rights and freedoms and normal life of the people in Nagorno-Karabakh, an administration formed by the United Nations must act. It is obvious that the fulfillment of these preconditions makes possible both the return of refugees and the final settlement of the conflict through peaceful negotiations," the statement says. It also emphasizes that during the meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan, scheduled for October 5 in Granada (Spain), it is necessary to consistently protect the entity of Nagorno-Karabakh, achieving peace without violence and coercion, while preserving human rights and freedoms. "We are confident that the EU, France and Germany have great opportunities to help Armenia and Azerbaijan achieve a decent and lasting peace," emphasizes the statement, which was signed by the Union of National Self-Determination Party, the Justice Party, the Conservative Party, and the Ayakwe Initiative," Yeghishe Charents House- Museum, Center for Development and Training of Information Systems and many others.
