ArmInfo.Ratification of the Rome Statute by the Armenian parliament of the ICC actually means a ban on Russian President Vladimir Putin entering this country, says Konstantin Zatulin, first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs.
"The Armenian side is trying to downplay the significance of the ratification of the Rome Statute of the ICC. It claims that it does not intend to apply it to Russian government officials. On the other hand, we officially condemned this ratification as an unfriendly act. I do not see any prospects in the near future, with ratification or without, in order for the President of the Russian Federation to travel to Armenia. In this case, the Armenian side cannot but understand that this kind of action actually means a ban on the entry of the Russian President to Armenia. In this regard, Pashinyan and his colleagues are consistent. They "We started training on political and public figures in Russia last year," Zatulin said in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.
The parliamentarian recalled that Armenia has already banned him, Margarita Simonyan and Aram Gabrelyanov, as well as "a number of other people," from entering the country.
"It is, of course, difficult for the President of Russia to ban entry, but to question, to instill doubt that this is even feasible, this is what happened as a result of ratification," noted Konstantin Zatulin.
