ArmInfo.Secretary Blinken met today with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the margins of the UN General Assembly to emphasize the importance of the U.S.-Turkiye relationship and express his strong support for increased economic and bilateral collaboration, according to a readout by the U.S. Department of State.
He also underscored the necessity of ratifying Sweden's NATO accession as soon as possible. The Secretary thanked Turkiye for its ongoing efforts to revive the Black Sea Grain Initiative and encouraged support for efforts to end hostilities and prevent a deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Nagorno- Karabakh.
"Spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the UN General Assembly about the U.S. and Turkiye's wide-ranging partnership, efforts to revive the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, and finalizing Sweden's accession to NATO," Mr Blinken tweeted.
