ArmInfo. EU diplomacy was unable to effectively respond to the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. As RIA Novosti reports, the Member of the European Parliament, Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence Nathalie Loiseau stated at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.
"We were unable to prevent the attack that was being prepared before our eyes," Nathalie Loiseau said. According to her, head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, did not respond to calls for help from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. "The High Representative rejected Armenia's request for support from the European Peace Facility (EPF), referring to the fact that one mustprepare for peace, not war. At the same time, Azerbaijan strengthened its already overwhelming military advantage, receiving weapons, in particular from Turkey and Israel, to that we turned a blind eye," the MEP said.
According to her, the European Parliament has repeatedly warned, but European diplomacy ignored these warnings. "Today is the time to introduce sanctions against Azerbaijani leadership who believe that our passivity gives them green light. Inaction will be a sign for all who turn to us that they cannot rely on us," she said.
