ArmInfo. Strasbourg joined the humanitarian mission to send aid from France to Artsakh, initiated by the Paris mayor's office, for two reasons, Strasbourg Mayor Jeanne Barseghian told a press conference in Goris, Armenia, on August 30, held on the occasion of the departure of a humanitarian convoy of 10 trucks from France to Nagorno-Karabakh.
First of all, she noted that Strasbourg joined because of the criticality of the situation. In this regard, Barseghyan referred to the statement of the Artsakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which stated that the stocks of flour in the state would run out in 2 days. "It is obvious that the situation will become more critical day by day," Ms Barseghian said.
She noted that Strasbourg could not stand aside, since the city is the capital of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the Council of Europe are located here. "We send our appeal not only to the President of France, but also to other European structures, including the Council of Europe. As a granddaughter and great-granddaughter of those who escaped the 1915 genocide, it is unacceptable for me that today the rights of the Armenian people to a decent life and to existence are being violated," she said.
