ArmInfo.The Armenian government provided an additional interstate loan of AMD 4 billion to the government of Nagorno-Karabakh. The decision was made on August 24 at a government meeting.
As noted in the explanation to the document, the loan is provided to mitigate social tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh in the post-war period.
A similar decision to provide an additional AMD 2.9 billion and then AMD 3.5 billion was made in June and April of this year.
It should be noted that according to the approved state budget of Armenia for 2023, in the current year, AMD 136 billion will be allocated from the state budget of Armenia to the needs of Artsakh. Previously, it was planned to allocate AMD 144 billion to solve the problems of Artsakh, however, AMD 8 billion were allocated in 2022 in order to solve urgent problems. The funds of the state budget of Armenia are intended to be used to pay salaries, pensions and allowances to residents of Artsakh, as well as to implement a number of infrastructure programs.
In 2022, Armenia more than doubled the size of the interstate loan provided to the Republic of Artsakh on favorable terms - with a y-o-y interest rate of 0.01% (AMD 144 billion or 291.7 million US dollars, the settlement rate of the Armenian dram to the dollar is AMD 493.6 , against AMD 64.8 billion or 131.2 million US dollars provided by the state budget for 2021).
