ArmInfo. During the governance of Nikol Pashinyan (Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, ed. note), the number of crimes committed, including grave and especially grave crimes, is growing from year to year, while their detection rate is not improving. On August 10, MP from the I Have Honor opposition faction Anna Mkrtchyan told journalists.
According to her, this indicates that the judicial system of Armenia has two options: either follow the path of solving real crimes, while paying special attention to grave and especially grave crimes, or follow the instructions of Nikol Pashinyan. The MP believes that it is practically impossible to combine both options, and for this reason the judicial and legal system has chosen the second path. "This is precisely the reason why the country's judicial and legal system is constantly being discredited, which is an ideal option for Nikol Pashinyan, since he does not set himself the solution of problems with the security of the state and the improvement of internal stability. He gives instructions to investigators, prosecutors, judges, so that they make the best decisions for him. An example of this better solution is the trial against the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan>, the MP noted.
She noted that today the courts often receive cases that are political motivated. Moreover, these cases, Mkrtchyan believes, will increase. She recalled the case of the Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party Armen Ashotyan. "By his actions, Nikol Pashinyan must bring the process of destruction of the country to an end, including through similar lawsuits," the oppositionist said.
It should be noted that today the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan testified in court, who is accused of protecting the Flash company, as a result of which the state suffered damage in the amount of $1 million. Moreover, former Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, who died during the trial, testified earlier against the former president. The third president of the Republic of Armenia noted that he was not happy to defend the ex-minister of agriculture, but he made the right choice during the tender for the supply of diesel fuel. "If Sergo Karapetyan had not taken such a decision then, then it was at that time, and not now, that he would have been punished," Serzh Sargsyan said. He added that only two companies could implement the program, and the former minister of agriculture preferred the one that offered the lower price. The ex-president recalled that during the preliminary investigation, more than enough evidence was obtained that the state order for the supply of 17,000 tons of diesel fuel within two months could be carried out by only two companies.
When asked by the prosecution about why, in this case, Sergo Karapetyan testified against the third president, including that it was Serzh Sargsyan who instructed the ex-minister to give an order to the owner of the Flash company, Barsegh Beglaryan, the ex-president suggested that the court deal with the matter, since he himself does not intend to be guided by assumptions.
The criminal case against Serzh Sargsyan was initiated at the end of 2019. According to the investigation, in 2013, the third president of RA patronized "Flash" company. It won the tender for the supply of diesel fuel, although offered a higher price than its competitor with a difference of about $ 1 million. Thus, the state suffered damage in the amount of about $ 1 million. Signature not to leave was chosen as a preventive measure against Sargsyan.
The next court hearing will be held on August 24.
