ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received Igor Khovaev, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair of the Russian Federation, the Special Representative of Foreign Minister of Russia on issues supporting the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to the RA MFA, issues of regional security and stability were discussed during the meeting. Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed the approaches of the Armenian side to the establishment of comprehensive stability in the South Caucasus and to key issues in the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The need to address issues of the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of an international mechanism was emphasized.
The interlocutors discussed in detail the humanitarian crisis that has developed in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the illegal blocking of the Lachin corridor. The need for an immediate end to the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan was emphasized in accordance with the Tripartite Statement of November 9, 2020 and the decisions of the International Court of Justice of February 22 and July 6.
It should be noted that before the meeting with Mirzoyan, Igor Khovaev met with the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister noted that today's meeting is taking place in the conditions of the deepening humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh resulted by Azerbaijan's illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor, emphasizing the importance of consultations on the created situation and the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
The Prime Minister presented the approaches of the Armenian side regarding the settlement of existing key issues.
