ArmInfo. Before criticizing EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar, or the U.S. ambassador, the representatives of the Artsakh authorities should assess those actions personally by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, due to of which Western diplomats consider Karabakh to be the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. A similar opinion is shared by Political Analyst of the Political Economy research institute, political scientist Benyamin Matevosyan.
In this vein, he stated that the EU Special Representative for the crisis in the South Caucasus and Georgia, Toivo Klaar, called the Armenian Stepanakert "Khankendi" and, as expected, the words of the European diplomat caused a flurry of emotions and negativity both in Armenia and in Artsakh itself.
In connection with this situation, Matevosyan asked several questions to the NKR authorities: "If Pashinyan is ready to designate territories in Armenia itself using Azerbaijani toponyms (Eyvazli and Chaizami), then how long will it take for him to call Karabakh Stepanakert "Khankendi"?
Do the authorities of Artsakh understand that since Nikol Pashinyan recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan on October 6, 2022 in Prague, then the Lachin corridor is the territory of Azerbaijan, and Baku has the right to establish a checkpoint in the corridor?
Do the authorities of Artsakh understand that if "Karabakh is Azerbaijan" and Baku does not allow the Armenians to have armed forces, then the NKR Defense Army should be disbanded? Do the authorities of Artsakh understand that if "Karabakh is Azerbaijan", then Stepanakert should be called "Khankendi"?
Do the Artsakh authorities understand that if "Karabakh is Azerbaijan", then the concept of "Artsakh authorities" has also been destroyed, and all government officials have turned into "elite prisoners"?" Therefore, he continued, before criticizing Klaar, or the U.S. ambassador, the representatives of the Artsakh authorities should assess those actions of Nikol Pashinyan personally, which is why Western diplomats consider Karabakh to be part of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. "Arayik Harutyunyan is not going to 'write a letter' to Nikol Pashinyan regarding the questions voiced above? Or does he still think and say that 'You don't understand, Nikol is playing for time?'," the pollologist asked rhetorically.
