ArmInfo. France can help Armenia in many issues of solving regional problems. Secretary of the RA Security Council Armen Grigoryan stated to journalists on April 28, commenting on the visit of French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonne to Armenia.
The Secretary of the Security Council noted that the European Union has deployed a civilian observation mission on the borders of Armenia, which also includes representatives of France. "France continues to look for ways to provide assistance to Armenia in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Armen Grigoryan said.
He added that there was a conversation with the French Foreign Minister, during which she was offered to visit Jermuk in order to get acquainted with the situation on the spot and get a comprehensive understanding of what is happening in the region. "According to my impressions, the French Foreign Minister is familiar with the situation," the Security Council Secretary said, adding that Paris is also making efforts to end the blockade of the Lachin corridor. Armenia, continued Armen Grigoryan, is intensively working with its international partners to send an international fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh and Lachin, and in this context there were discussions with the French Foreign Minister. Yerevan expects assistance from Paris on this issue.
Armen Grigoryan emphasized that the number of EU observers at the borders is not enough to monitor the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. For this reason, Yerevan calls on international partners to strengthen the capabilities of both EU observers and other institutions. The Security Council Secretary also said that negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan are expected in the near future. "Discussions are underway, it is planned to hold negotiations on a peace treaty. Azerbaijan is groundlessly trying to divert the attention of the international community from important points, proposing irrelevant issues instead >, Armen Grigoryan said.
