ArmInfo. Armenia lost in the 44-day war through the fault of the "fifth column", RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on March 14 at a press conference commenting on the accusations of third president Serzh Sargsyan.
Earlier, third President Serzh Sargsyan said that Armenia in the 44-day war involved only 50% of the army's personnel, and it is not clear why the other half was not used. Being the minister of defense for many years, and then the president, he is sure that, contrary to the accusations of the current leadership, Armenia had a "good" army capable of solving its tasks. According to him, after 2018, Armenia has not received any military-technical support. During the period of his presidency, i.e. until 2018, a huge amount of weapons and military equipment was purchased.
Pashinyan said that Sargsyan's accusations are absolute lies. <Thousands of volunteers participated in the war. Did someone tell you that they had a shortage of weapons?>, he said.
In addition, as the prime minister pointed out, if Sargsyan, by saying that after 2018 Armenia did not receive any military-technical support, meant free weapons, then he will remain silent about what this means.
The head of the Cabinet assured that in 2018-2020 Armenia acquired more weapons than in the previous 10 years combined and "this is a proven statistic". At the same time, he stressed that he agreed with the opposition that there was an opportunity to win the war.
As for Sargsyan's accusations that some of the weapons were not used, according to Pashinyan, this applies only to Su-30 aircraft that were purchased shortly before the war and were not physically ready for use. All other weapons in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and the NKR were used, the prime minister assured.
The reason for the defeat, according to him, which he had to name at some point <X>, will raise a big fuss. <This is my belief based on facts. I am sure that we lost the war because the "fifth column" was operating in the army, he said. According to him, the facts will soon become public, and his statement will not look so strange. To date, more than 50 former servicemen, including officers, are accused of treason, he stressed. <I don't know if there are those in Armenia who think they were set up? If there are any, then that's too bad >, Nikol Pashinyan said.
