ArmInfo.The ruling political force in Armenia is fulfilling its pre-election promises, which were given during the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan. This was stated by Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan at a press conference on March 14, commenting on rumors that Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan is spending money from the city budget on his election campaign, and whether this is a manifestation of corruption.
According to Pashinyan, after the 2018 elections, the Armenian authorities assumed obligations towards the residents of Yerevan, which are being consistently and successfully implemented. In particular, from 2018 to this day, 1000 "GAZEL" minibuses, which make up 70% of this type of vehicles, have been decommissioned from city routes. The rest of the "GAZEL" minibuses will be decommissioned in the near future. They have been replaced and continue to come by new modern buses, which will soon enter the city routes. The prime minister also pointed to the process of replacing elevators in multi-apartment buildings in Yerevan. Over 1,000 elevators have already been replaced. Pashinyan asked, pointing out, however, that there are risks in the procurement process, which the government promptly responds. , the Prime Minister said.
He added that the number of detected corruption crimes has recently increased. He recalled the presence of an arrested official from the current party in power, who is suspected of committing a crime of a corruption nature. "This, like other facts, suggests that our fight against corruption will be uncompromising and will remain so," Nikol Pashinyan emphasized, adding that the authorities managed to cope with systemic corruption. He called on media representatives to respect the presumption of innocence, while pointing out the high responsibility of representatives of the judiciary, who could make fictitious decisions.
