ArmInfo. The international recognition of Artsakh is a requirement of time. This was stated to journalists on February 24 by head of the "Armenia" opposition parliamentary faction , former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan.
According to him, the fact that Artsakh is in such a difficult situation today is the result of the work of the current authorities. The entire diplomatic potential has been practically destroyed, the "red lines" that the opposition is constantly talking about have been destroyed. <During the collapse of the USSR, Artsakh became self-determined on its historical territory, as Armenia and Azerbaijan did. We must admit that Artsakh has self-determined. It is as a result of the actions of the current Armenian authorities that Artsakh is in an enclave state, its diplomatic potential was undermined, and it was at war. Their diplomatic work destroys all the "red lines" put forward by the opposition," the head of the faction noted. According to Ohanyan, one of the red lines is that Artsakh has the right to live independently on its historical territory, while the rhetoric and provocations of Azerbaijan indicate that it is impossible to live with them in the same conditions.
<The next red line is that Armenia has no right to "wash its hands". Armenia has an obligation to ensure the safe and stable development of the people of Artsakh. The opposition must do everything so that the authorities do not sign documents that will harm our state>, Ohanyan concluded. The politician also touched upon the resignation of Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan. <I would not want Ruben Vardanyan to resign from the post of State Minister of Artsakh. This decision will have negative consequences for Artsakh>, Ohanyan emphasized, adding that he knows Vardanyan as a successful businessman and philanthropist. "I look at his activities in Artsakh primarily from a patriotic point of view. I don't know who appointed him or how. Ruben Vardanyan started the process that generated the spirit of struggle," Ohanyan said, adding that the Armenian authorities proved that they "washed their hands" and are not able to follow the path of self-determination of Artsakh.
