ArmInfo.Artsakh State Minister Advisor Artak Beglaryan reacted to the statements of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Munich Security Conference and accused the latter of lying.
"Azerbaijan's dictator Aliyev made some false claims at the Munich Security Conference today, in response to which I will mention: 4 UN resolutions in 1993 called on both sides to stop hostilities, meanwhile Azerbaijan did not comply with the resolution and continued hostilities; Those resolutions recognize the forces of Nagorno Karabakh as a party to the conflict, but not Armenia.
According to the official documents of the government of Soviet Azerbaijan, during this period only 17 mosques were counted in all the territories under the control of Artsakh, while Aliyev claims about 67. We have not destroyed any mosque deliberately, we have even restored the Shushi Mosque and preserved the existing ones as much as we could.
It should be noted that President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference, said that during communication with American partners and partners from the European Union, as well as following a trilateral meeting with Prime Minister Pashinyan, organized by Secretary of State Blinken, it became clear that there are a common understanding of the need for a two- vector approach to the situation in the region. <Firstly, this is the vector of peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Secondly, this is the connection between Azerbaijan and the Armenian population of Karabakh. Thus, this two-vector solution actually separates our negotiations with Armenia from our internal issues, such as communication with Armenians in Karabakh. It was agreed with our international partners that the rights and guarantees of the Armenian minority in Karabakh would be discussed. We are ready for it, but with the representatives of the Armenian community who lived, were born and spent their whole life in Karabakh, and not with the person who was "exported" from Russia to occupy a leadership position in Karabakh," Aliyev added. In Munich, Aliyev also accused the Armenian side of the alleged destruction of mosques, although he forgot to mention that it was through Armenian efforts that the Iranian mosque was restored in Shushi. Referring to the peace agreement with Armenia, he noted that the main issue is that the peace agreement should be drawn up on the basis of international norms and principles. <Three days ago we received new proposals from Armenia. We are studying them. At first glance, there is progress in the position of Armenia, but this is not enough>, he said. Aliyev also said that Baku had officially proposed the establishment of "checkpoints" on the border with Armenia. According to him, before this initiative was brought through unofficial channels. According to Aliyev, such checkpoints can also be established on both sides of the "Zangezur corridor", as well as in the "Lachin region". <Of course, I reiterated my position. The main question is that this peace treaty should be drawn up on the basis of international norms and principles, any provisions on Karabakh are unacceptable. Azerbaijan's position was also presented on this issue. Three days ago we received Armenia's response proposals to our proposals. Now we are studying them," he said.
