ArmInfo. Azerbaijan continues blocking the Lachin corridor, the only road connecting Armenia with Artsakh, Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan stated at a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
The situation has remained unchanged since December 12. Azerbaijan has only resumed gas supply. The humanitarian situation remains extremely grave. Hundreds of families are separated, with deficit of essential goods, including foodstuff.
"Azerbaijan's actions are illegal and violating its own international commitments, in particular the provisions of the trilateral statement on November 9, 2020," Mr Pashinyan said.
"De facto, it turns out that the commitment under the trilateral statement to keep Lachin corridor under control is not being fulfilled by the Russian peacekeeper as well. It is the result of Azerbaijan's illegal actions, which, however, does not improve the situation, because the key point of the Russian peacekeepers' presence is to prevent such illegal actions and to keep Lachin corridor under control," Armenia's premier said.
As regards the international response to Azerbaijan's actions, Mr Pashinyan thanked those who made specific political assessments of Azerbaijan's blockading of the Lachin corridor and causing a humanitarian disaster in Nagorno-Karabakh. He called for stepping up efforts to raise international awareness of the situation.
"Active work need to be done for the OSCE, UN or the OSCE Minsk Group to send a fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh or to the Lachin corridor," he said.
