ArmInfo. At the 4th meeting of the Green Economy Regional Assembly "EU for the Environment" (EU4Environment) held in Paris, Deputy Environment Minister Gayane Gabrielyan spoke about the large-scale aggression of Azerbaijan against the territory of Armenia.
During her speech, the Deputy Minister touched upon Azerbaijan's attack on the eastern and southeastern regions of Armenia on the night of September 13 with the use of artillery and attack drones. In particular, Gabrielyan noted that the fires caused by the armed aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan caused significant damage to the forestry of the "Jermuk" Vayots Dzor region.
According to her, as a result of forest fires, the biodiversity of this 10-hectare area, including endemic flora and fauna, has suffered, which has led to land degradation. Plants and animals of this territory, as noted by the Deputy Minister, are listed in the Red Book. According to the source, the meeting was attended by the national coordinators of the ministries of environment and economy of the Eastern Partnership countries, representatives of the European Commission and EU delegations, EU Member States, civil society, partners of the EU4Environment initiative (OECD, UNECE, UNEP, UNIDO) and representatives of the World Bank.
