ArmInfo.The Kremlin stated that the tension on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan still remains. "Definitely, tensions remain," Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on September 14 in response to a request to assess the situation.
The Kremlin representative recalled the decision taken yesterday according to which the CSTO mission would go to the border, headed by the organization's Secretary General Stanislav Zas. "They will present a report to the heads of state, which will be considered," Peskov added, quoted by TASS.
The press secretary of the Russian president also said that the mission has not yet arrived in Armenia. <As far as I know, the mission has not yet arrived in Armenia. Still, the decision was only made late last night. It (the mission - TASS note) still needs to be formed, and it need to fly, get there," the press secretary of the Russian leader added.
On Tuesday, the CSTO Council, at an extraordinary session via videoconference, decided to send a mission of the organization to Armenia to assess the situation in connection with the aggravation on the Armenian- Azerbaijani border. As reported, the mission should include the CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, the head of the CSTO Joint Staff Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov and representatives of the member states of the organization. In addition, at the meeting it was decided to form a working group "from among the employees of the secretariat and the military personnel of the joint headquarters for constant monitoring of the situation in the area of responsibility of the CSTO."
