ArmInfo. French Ambassador to Armenia Anne Louyot left for the Syunik region on June 15 to express her support to local authorities and civil society, as well as to discuss issues of strengthening cooperation between Syunik, France and the European Union.
According to the press service of the French Embassy in Armenia, the Ambassador met with the Mayor Arush Arushanyan in Goris. During the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the substantive agenda of cooperation between Goris and its sister city Vien, as well as the tourism potential of the city.
Then, Louyot visited Goris Basic School No 2, which , which since 2017 has introduced an in-depth study of the French language. Now the school has two classes where there are advanced French courses, in which 53 students study, while all students in the school learn French. The Ambassador welcomed the love of teachers and students for the French language.
The Ambassador also visited the Francophonie Cultural Center of Goris and welcomed the cultural and educational programs of the Center aimed at popularizing the Francophonie values in the region. The Ambassador also met with representatives of the All for Armenia non-profit organization, which provides assistance to refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh and residents of border villages, as well as with the "People in Need non-profit organization , which implements humanitarian and development programs in the field of agriculture, tourism, education, vocational training and assistance in the reintegration of Armenian emigrants. The meeting was also attended by the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII Armenie), which supports similar programs.
The day ended with a visit to the French-Armenian Cardiovascular Center (Center Cardiovasculaire Franco-Armenien Goris) in Goris. This is a Center dedicated to the fight and prevention of cardiovascular pathologies in Armenia, which was established in 2013 at the initiative of Action Sante Armenie France. The Ambassador got with the existing health problems in the Syunik region and various ongoing programs. She highly appreciated the exceptional quality of the Center.
