ArmInfo.Regrettably, the joint statement on the results of the Armenian and Russian leaders' meeting does not highlight the importance of Nagorno-Karabakh's status, fundamental principles of conflict settlement, including the right to self-determination, Armen Ashotyan, Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), wrote in a Facebook message as he commented on the statement by President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the results on their meeting in Novo-Ogaryovo.
In the context of the comprehensive joint statement by the Russian and Armenian leaders, Mr Ashotyan is sure that great expectations of the meeting could be held if Armenia had "normal authorities."
"Regrettably, the person representing the Armenian side is unable and unwilling to emphasize the real national agenda inside his own country. So it is no coincidence that even in dealing with the state that is playing a vital role for Armenia he was unable or unwilling to prioritize the Armenians' interests," Mr Ashotyan wrote.
The joint statement does not highlight the importance of Nagorno-Karabakh's status, fundamental principles of conflict settlement, including the right to self-determination.
"It is my greatest concern, though, to our regret, the absence of this in the international statement is natural as long as we are represented by Nikol Pashinyan, who has put up Artsakh for auction," Mr Ashotyan wrote.
In their joint statement the Russian and Armenian leaders particularly agreed to intensify the trilateral cooperation between Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan aimed at supporting the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and in the region in general.
The leaders noted the importance of the access and involvement of all stakeholders, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross and the specialized agencies of the UN, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNESCO, in addressing humanitarian issues in the region, and in providing comprehensive assistance to all those in need.
Pashinyan and Putin welcomed the normalization process of the Armenian-Turkish relations launched with the Russian support.
