ArmInfo. The Iranian Embassy in Armenia has responded to Azerbaijani MPs comments on their visit to the Blue Mosque in Yerevan.
"The Blue Mosque, a symbol of Iranian art, has been active again in the last 3 decades as the praying and congregation place of Muslims residing in Armenia and a touristic attraction. A great pleasure that its centuries-old Persian epigraphy has been preserved! Who can read them?" reads a tweet by the Iranian Embassy in Armenia.
Pooya Hosseini, CEO & Founder of the Armenia-Iran strategic cooperation development center, posted the following comment on his Facebook page:
"Two Azerbaijani MPs visited the Blue Mosque in Yerevan. One of them, influenced by his own overheated imagination, like many other residents of the Baku vilayet, posted the following Facebook message: 'We have visited the Blue Mosque. As far as we know, it is the only Azerbaijani monument preserved in Yerevan. Although the writings on the walls belong to another country, the architecture and the spirit are ours. W believe that one day the real owners of the mosque will offer their prayers. Nd Azerbaijanis' prayers are good and they will be answered at last'. First of all the 'MPs' must be taught that the writings on the walls of the Blue Mosque are history, which is impossible to falsify. I am sure they are reading the writing carefully. And they are perfectly aware that the mosque was built in 1766. The same can be said of the mosques and churches in Artsakh, which are Iranian and Armenian cultural heritage. And the stones and dust on their walls, the columns are much older than the 'fake' Azerbaijani state, which is only 100 years old, and stole its heritage from Iran.
"And the two MPs. should know that just as Iran has been and will continue protecting the Armenian cultural heritage, the Armenian people has been protecting the Iranian historical and cultural values in Armenia and in Artsakh," the post reads.
