ArmInfo. The global geopolitical changes that resulted in a disastrous seizure of power in Armenia in April-May 2018 are continuing, reads a statement by the Supreme Body of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) issued in response to the signing of a Russian- Azerbaijani allied agreement in Moscow.
The disastrous seizure of power in Armenia in April-May 2018 caused undermining of the Armenian- Russian strategic alliance, which is a most important component of the security systems of Armenia and Artsakh.
"The consistent incompetent - even criminal - foreign policy caused Armenia to lose the opportunities for strengthening its sovereignty, allowed Turkey as a politico-military factor to enter and build up its positions in the South Caucasus, which, in turn, improved Azerbaijan's positions in the global confrontation.
"As a result of the last war in Artsakh Armenia has lost its positions as an influential actor in the South Caucasus and, as a result of the plotter-rulers' consistent actions, embarked on the way of impairment of its sovereignty.
"When your only ally allies itself with your enemy, it is first of all the result of your own weakness and mistakes, your own politico-military and geopolitical bankruptcy," the statement reads.
The Armenian authorities' foreign policy proved incompatible with the strategic ally's regional interests, which proved a cause of new concerns for the Armenian people.
"Today's Russian-Azerbaijani declaration is a new signal for an expeditious resignation of Armenia's incumbent regime. Comprehensive relations of a new quality and content with Russia are vitally important for Armenia and Artsakh. And Armenia's future authorities must immediately start this process," the statement reads.
