ArmInfo. Baku's aggressive anti-Armenian rhetoric does not contribute to a constructive atmosphere, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan told a press conference held jointly with his Austrian counterpart Alexander Schallenberg.
Despite the international political instruments, the parties themselves should demonstrate political will, he said.
The entire world sees Armenia's willingness to build up regional peace and stability. And it is not only Armenia's public statements, but it is enshrined in the Armenian government's programme. And in the following elections the people actually voted for peace.
"However, Baku is sending opposite messages," Mr Mirzoyan said, referring to the Azerbaijani president's latest aggressive statement.
"The anti-Armenian rhetoric and steps on the border, refusal to settle humanitarian issues and keeping the POWs do not, to put it mildly, contribute to creating a constructive atmosphere. With Armenia being really concerned with and willing to building peace and stability in the region, the other side is supposed to show a constructive approach. But the aggressive anti-Armenian rhetoric does not contribute to it," Mr Mirzoyan said. Armenia handed over the maps of minefields though it was not obliged to under he trilateral statement. Armenia does not want further victims and made a unilateral step.
Also, the Hague Court judgments of last December confirm Azerbaijan's anti-Armenian rhetoric and even obliged Azerbaijan's top officials to refrain from it. As to possible signing of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and "the redlines", Mr Mirzoyan said that the answers are totally obvious.
"I have stated that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs are the only international format mandated to find the ways of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. No solution has so far been found and the negotiations must continue. And one of the expected results is specifying and actually signing a comprehensive peace treaty," Mr Mirzoyan said.
He reminded the reporters of the fundamental principles, with the right to self-determination being one of them.
"One more principle, nonuse of force, which, regrettably, was grossly violated in 2020. Not only Armenia and Artsakh, but the entire world must decide on whether this principle remains on the agenda or states can decide peoples' fates by force. If some can violate this rule, other can do the same," Mr Mirzoyan said.
