ArmInfo.The Science Committee, RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, has designed a scheme for raising salaries of research workers, Minister Vahram Dumanyan told a press conference on Tuesday.
The government is capable of raising the salaries of research workers who are efficient and create products.
"It is most important because our scientists must be financially interested, for research teams to do their work with devotion," he said.
Armenia`s science budget has been increased by 85% this year.
At a meeting that discussed the 2022 science budget, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that a total of AMD 6.7bln (over $14mln) would be allocated for scientific research next year.
Under the basic salary rise programme, the monthly salary of scientists (AMD 90,000 or about $200 now) will be raised up to AMD 276,000 by 2026. The heads of research institutes will receive 477,000 (about $1000 at the current exchange rate) in 2025-2026 against the present AMD 141,000.
