ArmInfo. Active work is underway to unblock transport communications in the South Caucasus. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexei Overchuk said this at the conference "The Current State and Prospects of Russian-Azerbaijani Relations in the Context of Integrated Processes" in Baku.
"We are actively working to unblock transport communications. We would like to talk about the potential of the integration processes that are taking place in Eurasia. From the point of view of international relations, we are talking about a macro-region. We see what processes are going on in North America, Southeast Asia, we are following behind the implementation of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative. In reality, little is said about integration into the Eurasian economic zone. Now we need to develop and do everything possible to strengthen interregional relations. Overchuk said, Trend reports.
According to him, during the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union, a number of countries aimed at regional integration immediately joined this body.
"We are moving along the path of economic integration. Today we see that the region is turning into a macroregion, a single cooperation in the production and delivery of goods is being established. Today we are working to create a space for working citizens and the transportation of goods. The total GDP of the EAEU countries amounted to $ 1.3 trillion, trade between the countries - members of the organization - $ 55 billion. Trade is growing faster. Between January and September, trade grew by 32.7 percent. We reached pre-pandemic levels and exceeded them by about 10 percent. We have virtually abandoned all types of control, except border control, "Overchuk said, adding that the free movement of people is an important factor.
"Paying the same taxes without discrimination is a very important indicator," he said.
It is noteworthy that earlier first president of Kazakhstan, honorary chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC), Nursultan Nazarbayev, at a meeting of EAEU leaders on December 10, proposed inviting Azerbaijan to become an observer state in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
