ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Phan Yong, during their meeting on September 6, discussed the Armenian-Chinese relations based on centuries-old friendly ties, confirming the readiness of the two countries to take joint steps to develop mutually respectful and trusting cooperation.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the Armenian side presented the provocative actions carried out by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. The Chinese Ambassador noted that the Chinese side supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia. Mirzoyan called China's position important in the context of a comprehensive settlement of the Karabakh conflict. In turn, the Chinese diplomat noted that China supports the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, which will contribute to the stability of the entire region.
The interlocutors touched upon the cooperation of countries on multilateral platforms, in this context, the importance of the idea of harmonizing the Eurasian Economic Union with the "One Belt, One Road" initiative was emphasized.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Phan Yong discussed the measures taken to overcome the coronavirus epidemic. The Armenian Foreign Minister thanked China for its support in the fight against the epidemic. The parties also expressed satisfaction with the growth rates of trade turnover. An exchange of views took place on the even more effective use of the potential existing between the two countries in the field of economic cooperation.
