ArmInfo. Arshak Karapetyan was relieved of his post as First Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia. As the press service of the government reports, the decision was signed by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on August 2.
To recall, Arshak Karapetyan was appointed to the post of First Deputy Defense Minister on July 20.
It is expected that, Arshak Karapetyan will head the post of defense minister in Pashinyan's future cabinet.
In April 2021, Karapetyan was appointed First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia. Prior to that, Karapetyan served as the head of the intelligence department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, and adviser to the Prime Minister. To note, Karapetyan was dismissed from the Armenian Armed Forces after the April 4-day war of 2016 for failure in his work, where he was in charge of the intelligence department of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces. He returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Armenia after the "Velvet Revolution".
