ArmInfo.Following the parliamentary elections on June 20, the Armenian public gave the authorities a specific mandate for specific activities, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan said today at the Ministry of Defense, presenting the newly appointed First Deputy Minister of Defense Arshak Karapetyan to the senior officers of the Armed Forces.
According to the press service of the government, he thanked the already former acting Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan for the work done, noting that he took office in a very difficult period. As Harutyunyan pointed out, during this period the department "had to face a number of crises, which, to Harutyunyan's credit, were overcome." According to him, Harutyunyan's role in this matter was very important. "We appreciate it. The government, the political team believes that you have fulfilled your mission with honor during this period," the chief of staff said.
Addressing the newly appointed first deputy, Harutyunyan noted the need for army reforms, assuring the government of support in this matter.
Arshak Karapetyan, in turn, assured that everything will be done to create a strong army and secure borders. "The reforms will be fast enough," he said.
