ArmInfo.Arshak Karapetyan has been appointed to the post First Deputy Defense Minister. The corresponding decree was signed today by acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
"In accordance with part 1 of Article 9 of the RA Law" On Civil Service ", to appoint Arshak Karapetyan as First Deputy Minister of Defense," the prime minister's decision says.
To recall, Karapetyan was appointed First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia in April 2021. Prior to that, Karapetyan served as chief of the intelligence department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, and adviser to the Prime Minister.
To note, Karapetyan was dismissed from the Armenian Armed Forces after the April 4-day war of 2016 for failure in his work, where he was in charge of the intelligence department of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces. He returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Armenia after the "Velvet Revolution" .
