ArmInfo. Russia perfectly realizes and sees how dissatisfaction with "Lavrov's plan" is consistently growing in Armenia. It is here that one should look for the origins of the reasons for the recent statement by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry "about the centuries-old friendship of the two peoples," "the importance of Armenia for Russia," and so on. Head of the Analytical Center for Globalization and Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
"Thus, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry is trying to assure us that his plan and even its consequences are in no way directed against Armenia. The image of Sergei Lavrov is inextricably linked in Armenia with his plan. And most importantly, with all its catastrophic consequences for Artsakh and Armenia. And, realizing this very well, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry is today trying to change this perception creating the image of a good friend, "he stressed.
Nevertheless, the political scientist assesses Lavrov's statements about friendship, alliance, etc. as secondary. Especially against the background of the statements of his deputy Andrei Rudenko, which sounded almost in parallel and reflected the Russian real politik. According to Grigoryan, declaring that the CSTO doors are open for Azerbaijan, Lavrov's deputy demonstrated the essence of Moscow's real policy, the purpose of which is to achieve signing of any documents by Yerevan that would drag Baku into the CSTO and the EAEU.
Against this background, Moscow's lack of reaction to Azerbaijan's violation of the territorial integrity of its ally Armenia, to the invasion of the Azerbaijani army, according to Grigoryan, means that Russia considers Sev Lich to be a part of Azerbaijan. Moreover, according to his estimates, by keeping its military on the territory of Armenia, keeping the Armenian prisoners on its territory, Baku focuses the attention of Yerevan on these problems. In return, it tries to resolve the issue of Artsakh's status as imperceptibly as possible.
And here, according to Grigoryan, we come to the most important thing. In his words, in parallel to all these processes, Baku, in turn, convinces Moscow to prevent the return of the Artsakh problem to the negotiating table of the OSCE Minsk Group. Persuades to prevent its appearing in the UN Security Council. And of course, to force, to make Armenia agree to the demarcation and delimitation of borders.
Meanwhile, taking into account all of the above, the demarcation and delimitation, the establishment of diplomatic relations between Yerevan and Baku, according to his forecasts, will inevitably mean that Artsakh will become a part of Azerbaijan. Thus, in his opinion, the issue of Artsakh, the issue of its status is being resolved today.
