ArmInfo.Russian-Israeli blogger and journalist Alexander Lapshin won a case against Azerbaijan in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). "Victory! The European Court of Human Rights found the Azerbaijani authorities guilty of attempted murder against me in a Baku prison and the use of brutal torture. Azerbaijan was ordered to pay me 30,000 euros in compensation," Lapshin wrote on his Facebook page.
To recall, Lapshin filed a lawsuit against Azerbaijan with the ECHR for illegal imprisonment and attempted assassination at the beginning of 2019.
The blogger was detained in 2016 in Belarus due to visiting Karabakh "without permission" from the Azerbaijani authorities. After the arrest, Lapshin was transported by special flight from Minsk to Baku, where he was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of illegally crossing the state border. In September 2017, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev pardoned him.
