ArmInfo. RA Deputy Foreign Minister Artak Apitonyan met with the heads of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia.
As reported by the press service of the Foreign Ministry, Artak Apitonyan presented in detail the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, the situation resulting from the invasion of the Azerbaijani armed units into the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions and the steps taken to resolve it.
The RA Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that these provocative actions are a continuation of the aggressive rhetoric of the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan towards Armenia, which is accompanied by the military exercises that began in Azerbaijan on May 16, which are being held without prior notice and in violation of the requirements of the Vienna Document of 2011. Artak Apitonyan noted that such gross violations of international law by Azerbaijan pose a serious threat to regional peace and security, and in this context, Armenia expects a corresponding response from the international community. "The Republic of Armenia reserves the right to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty in accordance with the UN Charter," the deputy minister added.
